The Charity Choice May 5, 2022

“Who shuts his hand has lost his gold, who opens it, has it twice told.” —George Herbert

There are so many charitable organziations vying for your donations of goods and time and materials, you may feel overwhelmed. In fact, you may almost feel like not giving to any of them, because everyone seems to beg for help and you can’t always take care of yourself and your own family.

God’s intention for us is not to deprive our own families of basic needs so that we can look charitable to others. Our opportunity is always to open our hearts and our hands to those in need in ways we can. After all, if God loves a cheerful giver, then it means He didn’t have to pry our fingers open to get the donation out of your hands.

Giving is always a choice and charity is a beautiful thing. We each have to choose which organizations we feel can most benefit from our help. In any case, you hold the gold… the chance to pray for the connection between God and His people in need. In that way, you can always be a “cheerful” giver.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV

Let us pray: Lord, let us always have a humble heart and a desire to give to others any way that we can. Father God, hear our prayers of intentions from today, from our prayer wall and for any unmentioned prayers in our hearts.. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

WISDOM OF LIFE April 21, 2022

“Order your soul; reduce your wants; live in charity; associate in Christian Community; obey the laws; trust in Providence.” —St. Augustine

This advice from St. Augustine may not resonate with the culture we live in today. After all, we’re more about “getting” more things, rather than “reducing” our wants. We’re more about ordering our finances and making sure we have big retirement nest eggs, than we are about ordering our soul.

Setting a priority to trust in Providence though could turn your life around in the way that you discover more of what it means to live in charity and reduce your wants. It might just cause you to desire to be even more of a giver than you are now. When we associate in Christian community, it means we seek to put Jesus at the center of all that we do as we relate to those around us. It means that we want to shine as givers and that we rely on God’s grace and goodness.

What would it mean to you today, to just take this day and focus on getting your life in order, starting with your soul? God is with you.

“He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.” —Psalm 107:9

Let us pray: Lord, … let us truly take the time to breathe in Your love and direction and nurture our souls today. Father God, hear our prayers of intentions today, from our prayer wall and for any unmentioned prayers that we have in our hearts. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

The Absolute Joy of Easter April 14, 2022

“God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died. It was God saying to the world, “I love you.” —Billy Graham

However you celebrate Easter, perhaps with flowers and brightly colored jelly beans, or with big family dinners and new shoes, you also celebrate the absolute gift of Easter. God’s gift to us! God not only sent Jesus in to the world as a tiny baby, fragile and needing the love of a human mother, but He kept His promise through His only Son, our Savior. He redeemed us and gave us a way to come back home when our earthly work is done.

The absolute, remarkable, beautiful joy of Easter is that we know our relationship with God is eternal. We are His sons and daughters forever and nothing can change that. It’s spring in our hearts from now on and love will always bloom.

Celebrate Easter all year through and let love prevail in your heart forever!

Happy Easter! (4/17/22)

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” —John 3:16-17 NIV

Let us pray: Lord, we praise You with all our hearts, our minds and our souls as we celebrate Your amazing gift of eternal life. Father God, hear our prayers of intentions today, from our prayer wall and for any unmentioned prayers that we have in our hearts. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

It’s Worth the Effort! April 7, 2022

“The greatest works are done by the ones. The hundreds do not often do much- the companies never; it is the units-the single individuals, that are the power and the might. Individual efforts is, after all, the grand thing.” —Charles H. Surgeon

Some days you wonder why you even try! Why do you try to become a better person, a more holy person, a more deeply committed follower of Christ? After all, it doesn’t appear that most of the world is working that hard at becoming better, so why should you be the only one who tries so hard?

If you ever think like this, STOP! Stop and look at what you have and what is available to you because you are a child of God, beloved and beautiful. You have a place to go with every trouble you might encounter. You have others who believe in a similar way who offer you encouragement and support. You have more joy in knowing who holds the future and more joy in knowing that you are a very special part of that future.

God thought you were worth the effort when He sent His Son to die just for you. Every day, in some small way, share your gratitude with Him and keep making the effort to be wholly His.

“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.” —Luke 10:27

Let us pray: Lord, we know You’re worth the effort and that there is a lot for us to learn. Help us to become the people You know we can be. Father God, hear our prayers of intentions from our prayer wall and for any unmentioned prayers. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

Convention day for Studio team members

Every quarter I try to schedule a Convention Day for my Studio team. On this day, we get to try out new glazing techniques and throw on the wheel and just have a day to spend together as a team. The 6 hour day goes super fast because we are all catching up with each other and having fun! We paint, we laugh, we throw clay, we giggle, we hydro-dip and we ooh and ahhh! A day where they can learn new things to pass on to you, our creative community!

I am so grateful for this particular team, because they are not only friends in the Studio, but great friends outside of the Studio! I've watched the majority of them grow from Littles into responsible and fine young adults and am so proud of who they have become and am so excited for them to start the college chapter of their lives! I will greatly miss them!

So next time you’re in the Studio, ask us about our different glazing techniques, throwing on the wheel or hydro-dipping and much more! We are here to help you be creative!
